Emile Caytan
Emile is a Senior Researcher at Araya. He began his career as an electrophysiologist, studying visuomotor and motor control through large-scale intracortical recordings in primates, before joining Europe’s most competitive research programs as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) research fellow — investigating the neural mechanisms of high-order cognitive functions such as attention. He then became closely involved in the development of novel invasive cortical implants and optogenetic stimulation methods aimed at vision restoration, before a brief move into the pharmaceutical industry as a preclinical study director. With a background spanning invasive brain decoding & behavioral tracking across both academic and non-clinical industry in four countries, Emile combines deep expertise in electrophysiology, multimodal behavioral integration (vision/motor), experimental design, and computational neuroscience. His current interests include the development of multimodal brain–machine interfaces & products, deep-learning methods applied to physiological signals, and AI-assisted brain decoding.
