In this study, sleep EEG from 290 older women was analyzed, and deep sleep (N3) was identified with approximately 87% accuracy using EEG “criticality” as a cue. It lays the groundwork for neurofeedback aimed at improving sleep. The poster sparked discussions with many researchers at the venue, and it is now on permanent display in the EEG Lab of the Institute of Psychology and Cognitive Science, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń, Poland.

Araya is also incorporating methods similar to this study into its ArKairos platform, and will apply the outcomes of such international collaborations to its development.
